Methodology

Methodology

A core amount of work for DNEG was the creation of The Gorge environment. This involved taking lidar and photogrammetry data to create a world that didn’t exist in real-life. Other noteworthy mentions were the FX work, waterfalls, fog, haze, snow, and most complex the large atomic explosion.

Technical

Technical

Supervised 100% of all matchmove tasks (camera, object, and body tracks) across multiple units. Took to final 90% of the assets, across all units. Oversaw cross-departmental coordination across all units. Technically the large explosion was the most challenging, as many of the assets in the forest needed to be simulated, for example, large variety of small plants, and of course the trees needed to bend with the shockwave.
